It’s been a while since I wrote and the guilt has been gnawing away at me. Guilt because I know I’m letting down all my avid followers (lol, all 5 of you) but mostly guilty because I’m letting myself down by not prioritising something which really does bring pleasure into my days. I thought about the reasons why I’m not writing and came up with a whole lot of ‘story’ about why: feeling overwhelmed with everything on my to-do list; shift of focus; not feeling particularly creative; etcetera etcetera… And believe me I could go on.
Then yesterday a piece of prose landed in front of my nose – ‘To everything there is a season’ from the bible and it struck me that how true this is in life. Just like the changing seasons which bring different joys into our everyday lives (hot chocolate in winter, the blooms of spring flowers and lazing by the pool on a hot summers day), our personal purpose and focus can change like a season. And mine has. What stands out for me is that : we NEED to DO WHAT we NEED to DO at different stages in our lives. This thought has brought me some peace and acceptance, allowing me to ditch the guilt and look forward. To lean into the rhythm and flow of life and to make a commitment to myself to weave my passions into my current season. And to make a habit of this..
Has there ever been a time in your life when you felt the same? What season are you IN right now?
I invite you to stand outside of your season and make a commitment to yourself to find a rhythm which enriches your life…
To everything there is a season,
a time for every purpose under the sun.
A time to be born and a time to die;
a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
a time to kill and a time to heal …
a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance …
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to lose and a time to seek;
a time to rend and a time to sew;
a time to keep silent and a time to speak;
a time to love and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.
ecclesiastes 3:1-8
